The Arizona Snowbowl announced an opening date of December 17th, this Thursday.  We look forward to working with all of you this season and are excited to be open for several new areas of business and to be offering up a new fleet of boards, skis, and cross country equipment.  We have revamped our store and business model and look forward to seeing the familiar faces that have supported us in Flagstaff for over 20 years!

Flagstaff winter forecast
According to the 2010 Farmers’ Almanac, this winter will see more days of shivery conditions: a winter during which temperatures will average below normal for about three-quarters of the nation.

Greetings!  The Arizona Snowbowl was granted permission to install manmade snow making equipment which will greatly increase the consistency of the Flagstaff area downhill skiing season.  This decision will enhance the experiences of visiting skiers by providing a consistent base of snow on the runs and allowing Snowbowl to open up every year in time for the holiday season.  All who enjoy downhill skiing or snowboarding at the Arizona Snowbowl will benefit from this decision as the season will be longer, the powder thicker, and the runs better. 

Northern Arizona been in a multiple year drought which has caused inconsistency in the predictibility of when the ski season will begin and end.  The temperatures are usually excellent for snowskiing but the precipitation has been the issue in some prior seasons.  With manmade snowmaking now when the temperatures are in line snow can be applied ot the runs just like at resorts in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Europe have been doing for decades.  Below is an article describing the decision and a second link detailing the expansion plans for the Snowbowl.  In addition to the artificial snow equipment, new runs, a half pipe, an expansion of the lodge, parking lot expansion, and new high speed ski lifts are being installed!  It's going to be awesome!

There isn't much to report in the summertime!  So far, we have had zero inches of snow in the month of July.  We will keep you up to date as to the weather conditions at the Arizona Snowbowl and would like to remind you that we are Northern Arizona's premier snowboard and snow ski equipmental rental shop and we will be open everyday of the Arizona Snowbowl ski season.

****Breaking News Update****, we have had small hail come down multiple times in the past 2 weeks in Flagstaff during this monsoon season.  The weather experts are starting to predict a great season for the ski season this winter.  Mentions of El Nino, heavy precipitation, and cooler weather have the local ski scene buzzing about the possibilities of an incredible season this year!
